Your new role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a community café cook to join the Youth work team on a part time (15 hours) and permanent basis. As a community café cook, you will ensure food is prepared and cooked to hygiene standards and the kitchen is cleaned to a high standard. You will be responsible for all aspects of food preparation whilst ensuring items are displayed in accordance with regulations and guidelines including labelling and stock rotation.

 

As a community café cook, you will maintain stock control, by ensuring it is rotated and kept at a level and confirm that stock ordering is within the clear and structured Local Authority guidelines.

 

Other duties include:

 

  • Arranging menus,
  • Creating shopping lists, purchasing food items, preparing and serving food.
  • Keeping the kitchen and café area clean and tidy.
  • Adhering to Health & Hygiene rules.

 

Typical hours for this post is 9:30am-2:30pm or 10am to 3pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

 

N:B – The advertised salary (£23,893 - £24,294) is for full time equivalent, please note this will be pro rata to hours worked.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful you must have experience of food preparation and stock rotation. It is vital that you have experience of working within hospitality and catering, alongside this you should have outstanding customer service skills. It is essential that you are confident in working with kitchen equipment such as ovens, microwave, and dishwasher.

 

You need to be able to communicate effectively as you will be dealing with variety of stake holders. Previous experience of working in a similar environment is essential as this is a busy and physically demanding job.

 

Your application will not be considered if you do not have Food Hygiene and Safety for catering certificate level 2.
