Southend-on-Sea City Council and Castle Point Borough Council

Southend-on-Sea City Council and Castle Point Borough Council are looking for an independent member to join their respective Audit Committees. 

The Audit Committees provide independent assurance on the arrangements the Councils have in place to successfully manage their organisations (which includes risk management, internal control, financial reporting and governance). In doing this, the Committees play an important role in supporting the delivery of services to the community.

The ideal candidate for the position of Independent Member of the Audit Committees will have:

• extensive experience of working with or being a member of an Audit Committee
• a financial or audit type background and appropriate experience of financial management
• a good understanding of governance, risk management and control

This is a voluntary position. 

The Independent Members Allowance is £1,800 per annum to support both Councils.
