Southend City Council are looking to appoint a Registration Officer to join the Registration services on a full time and permanent basis. This post is predominantly onsite as you will be performing face to face ceremonies and registrations. As a Registration Officer, you will be responsible for delivering Registration Services in accordance with Statutory, General Register Office, Local registration Service and City Council requirements, policies, procedures and good practise. You will personally carry out all types of ceremonies, notices and registrations and associated and discretionary service duties at all required locations.
The job requires you to be personally involved with customers both internal and external in both a professional and sensitive manner at life defining and emotional moments in their lives. To be responsible for delivering registration services in accordance with the statutory general register office, local registration service and City Council requirements.
You will personally carry out all types of ceremonies, notices and registrations and associated duties along with discretionary service duties at all required locations. This role will require the candidate to have a positive outlook and be responsive to customer needs including working flexibly at weekend, out of hours and standby duties. You will deliver faith death registrations on demand, and this is done on rota basis.
NB: This post holder will be required to work Saturdays (1 in 4).
Part time / job share working pattern will be considered.
To be successful in this role, excellent communication skills and meticulous attention to detail is required and the candidate must be able to work productively as part of a team. You must be personable and confident and be responsible for undertaking the activities of the registration service in accordance with relevant health and safety regulations, whether at the City Council Offices or elsewhere, including the participation of customers, guests and members of the public.
This role would suit those with registration experience or Celebrant/Toast Master/Acting skills as will be responsible for ushering duties and conducting celebratory services: Naming Ceremonies, Civil Partnership/ Marriage and Citizenship Ceremonies.
Your application will not be considered if you do not have minimum of five GCSE passes (including English and Maths at grade A-C or 9-4) and this must be evidenced with a certificate.
