Your new role

The role exists to ensure that people who need care in Southend can access the right care at the right time. You will ensure that people you supported have adequate information to make their own choices. You will ensure effective movement of people across pathways of care, supporting a move towards independence. You will provide professionals using the brokerage team with offered a timely and effective service offer that meets the needs of their clients within the available budget. You will offer services that maximise independence and are based in their strengths and abilities. You will negotiate price and service offer to maximise the use of public funds in the interests of the residents of Southend. You will develop supplier relationships to maximise the effectiveness of the service offer. You will use the results of brokerage to generate and share market intelligence. You will contribute to the collective commissioning team working at all levels in the council.

What you'll need to succeed

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience. Relevant Professional Qualification (eg Social Work, Nursing, OT, Registered Manager). A knowledge of the local health and social care system across Southend. Experience of information advice and guidance work. Experience of brokerage. Experience in complex supplier negotiations and market relationship building. Experience in strategy and market development, risk management, and resource management. Experience of working in or using social care services. Verbal and written communication skills. IT literacy(excel, word, powerpoint). Excellent project management skills. Engagement and coproduction skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Effective organisational and time management skills to meet tight deadlines and manage priorities. Able to analyse, interpret and assess data and information. Organisational awareness & strategic thinking.
