A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Library Officer to join the vibrant and friendly Southend Library team on a part time (14.5 hours) and permanent basis. As a Senior Library Officer, you will provide an efficient and effective service at all library sites across the city, but you will be primarily based at one library. You will supervise Library Officers and volunteers to assist in the management of the service to the public on a day-to-day basis.
You will be required to assist in carrying out library administration matters including, but not limited to, cash handling and income reconciliation and you will act as a keyholder for all libraries as required, ensuring Health and Safety requirements are met. You will assist, where necessary, in delivering training for Library Officers and volunteers.
The vacancy will be based at Southchurch Library and the hours are Monday and Friday 8.45-5 (week 1) then Monday and Saturday 8.45-5 week 2).
NB: To fulfil the needs of the role, the above hours are set and cannot be changed or amended.
To be successful in this role, it is essential to have a good understanding of the need to provide excellent customer service to the customers and public. Effective verbal and written communication skills and a good standard of literacy and numeracy is vital for this role. It is also essential that you possess a positive, can-do attitude in order to adapt to the pace of change and embrace new technologies and ideas. You will need motivation and enthusiasm both for yourself and for your team.
You will be required to be mobile and move around the city. Supervisory experience would be advantageous but not essential.
