Your new role

We are currently seeking a Facilities Technician to join our Facilities Management team on a full-time, temporary basis for three months. This is position is onsite based, with working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. As a facilities technician, you will contribute to the delivery of a variety facilities duties in support of the Civic Centre and supported buildings. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties including setting up meeting rooms with audio-visual equipment, delivering supplies, collecting waste, conducting building condition checks, and responding to maintenance issues. You will also play a key role in emergency evacuations, perform fire system safety checks, and manage contractor permits and passes. You will make safe any maintenance issues discovered, ensure that the fault is reported and rectified.

Please not that this is a physically demanding role involving manual handling tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Reliability and a proactive approach are essential.

 

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you must be able to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for a dependable and hardworking individual who takes pride in their work and is committed to delivering excellent service. A willingness to support colleagues and meet customer needs through a variety of manual tasks is essential. While on-site training and support will be provided, you should have a sound understanding of basic health and safety principles, including safe manual handling and fire awareness. It is beneficial to be IT literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Teams, and the ability to complete online training modules. Strong communication skills are also important, as you will be interacting directly with staff and members of the public on a daily basis.

 

This post will suit individuals with experience in caretaking, general maintenance, or those confident when completing DIY repairs. A practical mindset, hands-on approach, and familiarity with basic repair and upkeep tasks will be highly beneficial in this role.
