Your new role

Southend City Council are looking to appoint a full-time Brokerage Officer within a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This role will sit within the brokerage team, working alongside the Contracts, Quality and Strategic Commissioning teams. The purpose of the Brokerage team is to ensure that they are connecting people to the right care at the right time. Offering holistic support packages that meet the service user’s needs in a way that promotes choice and independence where possible.

They support operational colleagues, as well as Southend Council’s partners in health and complex care. Offering extensive provider market knowledge and negotiations, to ensure cost-effective placements are being offered. The Brokerage Officer will ensure effective movement of people across pathways and will be required to manage flow and capacity across all services.

The new post holder will be responsible for flow management, tracking vacancies, working on block arrangements, reconciliation of supported living as well as void monitoring.

Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week, including every Wednesday.

What you'll need to succeed

To be shortlisted for this position, you must be educated to degree level or have advanced equivalent experience.

It is essential that you have experience of working within a brokerage or wider commissioning team and have knowledge of the local health and social care system across Southend, with experience of information, advice and guidance work.

You must have proven experience in data management, flow trackers, be able to monitor voids, analyse, interpret, assess data and have experience in strategy, market development, risk management and resource management, as well as be able to critically think, solution seek and mitigate risks.

It is essential that you have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with being  IT literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
